On Tuesday 18th December we walked to Wendy &
John Weaver's home at Beech Farm via Swangrove.
November walk was cancelled because of heavy rain but we all met in The Beaufort
Arms for lunch.
On Tuesday 16th October we went to explore Stoke (Duchess) Park in Bristol.
For all of us this was the first time we've been there even though most of are from Bristol.
From Stoke Park we went to Frenchay Common, Oldbury Court Park and Snuff Mills.

The restored monument to the Duchess of Beaufort who
reputedly was struck by lightning on this spot.
And of course we had a nice cup of tea
at Snuff Mills.
Tuesday 21st August a group of us set off from Bitton Railway Station and walked
along the railway path and the River Avon Path to Hanham Lock for a pie and a
pint then back to Bitton.
On 19th July we had a
walking tour of old Bristol with Mark Steeds
the landlord of The Beaufort Arms.
Tuesday 17th July we took a walk around Hambrook and Winterbourne taking in the
St Michaels Church and Monks Pools.
On 19th June we took an evening walk that included Yarley Meadows near Inglestone Common. Parts of the route were a bit muddy and two of our
number couldn't resist trying to find out just how deep the mud actually was. Liz's Australian nephew Tristan loved getting
'down and dirty with the WI'.
On 5th June we had our Garden Meeting at Judy Chancellors
in Alderley. We had a lovely evening with good food and company and even managed
to see the beautiful garden and views - when the rain stopped!
On Tuesday 15th May the walking group, led by Gill
Truebody, travelled to Bristol Temple Meads by train from Yate and we walked along the St. Phillips Greenway to Arnos Vale Cemetery.
The WI Olympic Torch exchange took place on 16th March when Old Sodbury WI President Sue Leah handed
the torch to Hawkesbury & Horton WI President Barbara Harvey .
Betty Salthouse, Barbara Harvey and Melanie Gibbs then walked to the Rose and Crown in
Rangeworthy to hand the torch over to Rangeworthy WI.
6th March was our birthday meeting. The cake - made by Hilary Rogers - cleverly reflected the talk we had by
Prof Pete Milson about the original Punch and Judy Show. New member Kim Anderson made the prize winning marionette puppet "Queen Elizabeth II".
Our second walk in 2012
was on Tuesday 21st February and took us from from Wortley up to Newark Park to
see the snowdrops and aconites and back via Tor Hill
Our February meeting saw
members joining in NIA (Non Impact Aerobic) dancing.

was on Tuesday 17th January and took us from Hawkesbury Upton to Horton and back via Horton Parish church and the dovecot near Horton hill fort.
